Since July 2011, and simultaneously to the creation of El Romanço de Llorenç, F. Torrent and P.H. Tan started working with David Eudave, creating material for a possible performance. Leonardo Mancini came into the group in November 2011. From January 2012 on, we can already speak of a new piece: Fills del drap – Retaule d’una caiguda.
Des del juliol del 2011, simultàniament a la creació de El Romanço de Llorenç, F. Torrent i P.H. Tan van estar treballant amb David Eudave, creant material per a una possible performance. Leonardo Mancini es va unir al grup el novembre del 2011. A partir de gener 2012, podem començar a parlar d’una nova peça: Fills del drap – Retaule d’una caiguda.
In the year 2011/2012, La Vella Fam (in collaboration with Feyts) undertook a special project: the filming of a documentary film. We seeked to perceive ourselves, “westerners”, from an outside point of view. The intention was to interview someone from a different cradle, who could put into words what he perceived in the “westerners”.
«What are our fears made of?; “What is the value we give to the ‘word’?; How do we live ‘time’?; Is there anything sacred in our place?»These are some of the questions that were posed to Oumar Diallo. In its 42mn duration, El Pes de la Palla intends to place a mirror in front of the westerners, giving thus a chance to become aware of our behavioral habits.
The documentary is now visiting some European institutions connected with intercultural issues.
El Romanço de Llorenç, performed by Pei Hwee Tan and Francesc Torrent, is a theatrical narration in two voices, of a possible story —between legendary tales and real life events– of the region of Penedès in Catalonia.

L’any 2011/2012, La Vella Fam (en col·laboració amb Marc Capdevila) va emprendre un projecte especial: la filmació d’un documental. La idea era d’enregistrar unes converses amb una persona que tingués la capacitat de percebre els “occidentals” des d’un punt de vista exterior, i de posar en paraules el que en percebia. Vam trobar l’Oumar Diallo.
«Quines són les nostres pors? Quin valor donem a la paraula? Com vivim el temps? Hi ha alguna cosa sagrada a casa nostra?» Aquestes van ser algunes de les preguntes que vam fer a l’Oumar Diallo. En els seus 42mn de durada, El Pes de la Palla busca plantar un mirall davant dels occidentals, per donar-nos l’oportunitat de percebre els propis hàbits de comportament.
La Vella Fam is an artistic platform that accommodates and supports the creative work that germinates around its members. As such, La Vella Fam functions as a creative umbrella under which productions, research, exchanges and diffusion in the performing arts terrain take place.
The theatrical work of La Vella Fam springs forward from a regular actor’s training guided by Pei Hwee Tan and Francesc Torrent. The research work being carried out is somehow related with a stream of theatre laboratories where an organic approach to the actor’s work is considered essential.
